2008 Opportunity List
Click here to download a copy of the opportunity list.
Below you will find a list of our EMX opportunities. Each is ranked:
"E" (Easy) For leaders and/or groups who are new to mission. You may have never gone on one or have done
only one experience. These well-organized opportunities are perfect for those new to the mission world.
These opportunities have staff available to help you in all areas throughout the week, including places to stay,
supplies, food, spiritual support, and long-standing relationships in the community. If you have never
participated in a mission opportunity we strongly recommend that you try a Passport Youth Camp that
incorporates mission emphases on a daily basis before participating in EMX. Visit Passport for more information.
"M" (Medium) For those leaders and/or groups that have gone on a couple of mission opportunities, yet are still
learning the ropes. These exchanges are well staffed and require a bit more planning and training of the
group prior to the trip, including self-arrangements for food preparation and housing.
"X" (eXtra-challenging) For those groups and/or leaders who are seasoned veterans. You and/or your group
have been going on mission for several years and are ready for a new challenge. These mission
environments offer rewarding work and contacts in highly demanding contexts. You will need to generate
your own leadership (among youth and adults) with substantial training prior to the experience.
Improvisational skills and humor are pre-requisites.
Each exchange opportunity includes details on housing, estimated costs and suggested schedule. Certain opportunities operate on a rigid schedule to assure an even flow of volunteers. When calculating your group's
costs, realize that long-distance and local transportation is not included – the costs listed refer only to those on-site; housing, meals and any other administrative costs for the exchange.
