Episcopal Mission Exchange matches parishes and dioceses with mission opportunities that are ideal for youth and young adults. This timeline will give you an overview of the process to show you how it works.

Fall/Winter
Parishes, dioceses and schools call Episcopal Mission Exchange (877-EMX-SEND) to request an opportunity list. Click here to download a 2008 Opportunity list.

Winter
Parishes, Dioceses and School Groups fill out an application and send it into EMX. Once an application has been received and accepted, mission partners are assigned. In order to insure mission partners of consistently prepared groups, not all applications are accepted. Click here to download an application.

Winter/Spring
“Safeguarding God’s Children” training is completed. Contact your diocese for schedule and fees.

Ongoing
EMX Workbooks are mailed out. Click on the following sample pages: 1 - 2 - 3. Phone and email support from EMX office.

Spring
Group leaders hold team meetings, retreat, and fundraisers to plan for the exchange. Final arrangements for housing and transportation plans are made by the group leader with the mission partner.

March
Mandatory pre-project visit at opportunity-date to be determined.

Summer
EMX mission exchange happens.

Post-experience
Complete EMX evaluation and feedback on project, report to supporters and donors and begin to recruit young people for next year’s EMX.
